Services offered
Exceptional Learning Environment
A focused learning environment makes a real difference to exam preparation. At SWEC, that means organised study plans and structured classes, but it also means something simpler: every session has a clear objective, so you always know what you are working toward that day.
Experienced & Supportive Faculty
Our faculty have years of experience preparing students for international English proficiency exams. They understand the current Duolingo English test syllabus, common scoring patterns, and the areas where students typically lose marks. Rather than encouraging memorisation, they help you build genuine communication skills.
Tailored Study Plans
No two students prepare from the same starting point. Strengths, weaknesses, target scores, and application deadlines all vary. Instead of a generic plan, we build a personalised study path from your initial assessment, so your time goes toward the areas that will move your score the fastest.
Gujarati/Hindi Medium Support
Some concepts click faster when explained in your first language. Where it helps, our trainers switch to Gujarati or Hindi to walk through a grammar rule or point out exactly where a sentence went wrong, before bringing the explanation back into English.
Adaptive Mock Tests
The DET's adaptive format is often the biggest surprise for first time test takers. Our mock tests recreate real exam conditions, including timed sections and increasing question difficulty, followed by a detailed breakdown of your performance. Regular Duolingo English test practice like this is what turns familiarity into confidence.
Affordable, Transparent Fees
SWEC keeps its Duolingo English test det coaching in Ahmedabad & Surat fees clear from the start. You will know exactly what is included in your program before you enroll, with no hidden costs added later.
Speaking & Writing Feedback
You will receive specific feedback on your Production section responses. Fluency and pronunciation come first. Then we look at whether your sentences actually hold together, so you always know exactly what to work on next.
Continuous Progress Tracking
We track your progress after every single session, not just before a mock test. That includes your speaking, your writing quality, and the small mechanical things like grammar and pronunciation. This keeps small issues from turning into score gaps closer to test day.
After your DET score
Score verification against your target university's requirement
Retake strategy guidance, if your first attempt falls short
Handoff to SWEC's student visa team once your score is confirmed
Application and intake timeline planning
Why Take the Duolingo English Test?
The Duolingo English Test, commonly known as DET, is an internationally recognised English language proficiency exam developed by Duolingo Inc. It was designed for students applying to universities and colleges abroad who need to demonstrate their English ability as part of the admissions process.
Unlike most other language tests, DET is conducted fully online and can be taken from home. It combines artificial intelligence with secure remote proctoring to assess your performance, which is a major reason so many students now choose Duolingo English test preparation over the scheduling and travel involved in a conventional exam.

DET Test Structure
Literacy
This section evaluates your ability to read and write in English, along with your understanding of English texts. It covers vocabulary, grammar, spelling, and reading comprehension. Most students improve fastest here by reading more, not just memorising word lists. Reading speed and sentence construction tend to follow once vocabulary starts to feel natural instead of forced.
Comprehension
Rather than testing grammar rules in isolation, this section checks how well you understand spoken and written English in context. Expect short passages, listening activities, and questions that test your ability to interpret meaning rather than recall a rule.
Conversation
Here, your spoken English is assessed through recorded responses to prompts. Examiners are listening for fluency and pronunciation first. Vocabulary and sentence organization matter too, but confidence under time pressure is often what separates a good score from a great one.
Production
This section measures how clearly you can express ideas in both writing and speech. Grammar and sentence structure matter here, but so does something harder to fake: whether your ideas actually develop from one point to the next instead of just restating the question.
Consistent Duolingo English test practice across all four sections is what helps candidates get comfortable with the exam’s pace and produce stronger, more natural responses on test day.
Duolingo English Test Score Chart vs. IELTS & TOEFL
Understanding how your DET score compares with other English proficiency exams makes it easier to interpret your target university’s requirement. Every university sets its own admission criteria, but the table below offers a general point of comparison.

Which Universities and Countries Accept the Duolingo English Test?
The list of Duolingo accepted universities has grown quickly over the past few years, and it now spans undergraduate, postgraduate, pathway, and transfer programs across several countries.
United States
The United States accepts the DET more widely than almost any other country. Thousands of universities and colleges recognize a Duolingo English test for USA applications across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and increasingly for pathway and transfer routes too. Much of this comes down to flexibility. International applicants get a fast, dependable option instead of waiting weeks for a test center slot. If you are preparing a Duolingo test for USA admission specifically, our team can guide you through both the exam and the university shortlisting process.

United Kingdom
A growing number of universities across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland now accept DET scores for selected courses. Because acceptance still depends on the specific institution and program, we help confirm the exact requirement before you apply.

Canada
Canada continues to be one of the most popular study destinations for Indian students, and a growing list of Canadian universities now accept DET scores for admission. One question we hear often, almost word for word, is this: “is Duolingo accepted for Canada visa?” University admission policy and IRCC’s immigration requirements are not always identical, so we recommend checking both carefully before you apply.

Australia and Other Destinations
Acceptance of the DET is expanding steadily across Australia, along with destinations such as Ireland, New Zealand, Germany, and several other countries across Europe and Asia. Some universities accept it for every program, while others limit it to specific courses or intakes, so we check this for you before you apply.

Duolingo English Test Fees and How to Register
One of the clearest advantages of the DET is its price. It costs considerably less than many traditional English proficiency exams, while still offering faster results and the convenience of testing from home.
Current Test Fee
- US$70
- Approximately ₹7,000, depending on the exchange rate
Attempt Limits Under current Duolingo policy, students may take up to three Duolingo English Tests within a rolling 30 day period.
How to Register
- Register on the official Duolingo English Test website.
- Purchase the test.
- Verify your identity using your passport or another valid form of identification.
- Complete the computer, webcam, microphone, and internet connectivity checks.
- Schedule your test and take it from home.
Because the exam is proctored remotely, it is important to follow every instruction carefully while the test is in progress.
How Soon Will You Receive Your Results?
Fast turnaround is one of the DET’s strongest advantages. Most students receive certified results within 24 to 48 hours of completing the exam, allowing you to apply to universities considerably earlier than with many traditional English language tests.
Duolingo vs IELTS, PTE, and TOEFL
| Feature | DET | IELTS | PTE | TOEFL |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Test Mode | Online from home | Usually at a test centre | Usually at a test centre | Test centre or select online locations |
| Proctoring | Webcam proctored | In person | Computer based at a test centre | Supervised testing |
| Result Timeline | 24 to 48 hours | Varies by format | Usually within a few days | Varies |
| Cost | Around US$70 | Generally higher than DET | Generally higher than DET | Generally higher than DET |
| Best For | Fast applications, remote convenience | Traditional university admissions | Students who prefer computer based testing | Universities that specifically require TOEFL |
Despite its many advantages, the right choice still comes down to which test your preferred universities actually accept, rather than which one is simply the most convenient to take.
Is TOEFL Still Worth Taking?
Yes, in many cases. TOEFL remains one of the most widely recognised English proficiency tests and is still the preferred choice for a large number of universities and professional bodies. If your target university specifically requires or recommends TOEFL, it is a sound choice. But when a university accepts both, many students lean toward DET simply because it costs less, can be taken remotely, and delivers results faster. If you are unsure which exam suits your situation, our counsellors can help you decide.
How to Prepare for the Duolingo English Test
Understand the Adaptive Format
Unlike fixed format English tests, the DET adjusts to your answers as you go. Each correct response leads to a harder question. Understanding this in advance changes how you approach the exam and helps you stay calm as the difficulty increases.
Practice Speaking and Writing Under Time Pressure
The speaking and writing sections tend to influence your final score the most. Work on organizing your thoughts fast and speaking in a natural, clear voice. Then push yourself to write with correct grammar under an actual clock, not an untimed one. A wider vocabulary helps, but staying calm while the timer runs matters just as much.
Test Your Microphone and Webcam Setup Early
Since the DET is taken entirely online, technical preparation matters just as much as language preparation. Before your test, check these four things:
- A stable internet connection
- A working webcam and microphone
- A quiet, well lit room
- No interruptions during the exam window
Take Official Practice Tests
Official practice tests and full length mock exams remain one of the most effective ways to prepare. You get used to the actual question formats and the on screen instructions instead of guessing on test day. More importantly, you start to feel the adaptive difficulty curve in action, which is hard to describe until you have sat through it yourself. Students enrolled in Duolingo online coaching India programs, including SWEC’s, also get guided feedback on interpreting their practice results and targeting weak areas directly.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Rushing Through Adaptive Questions
The most common mistake is answering as quickly as possible. Because the test is adaptive, rushing often works against you. Read each question fully and prioritize accuracy over speed.
A Weak Webcam or Testing Environment
Since the exam is proctored remotely, your surroundings matter almost as much as your English ability. A test can get flagged for review over things that have nothing to do with language skill: bad lighting, a noisy room, someone walking in halfway through, or a connection that keeps dropping. Keep your room quiet, position your camera properly, and confirm your connection before you begin.
Underpreparing the Production Section
Many candidates spend most of their preparation time on reading and vocabulary while giving far less attention to speaking and writing. The Production section rewards clear communication, logical structure, and confident language use under pressure. Regular speaking practice combined with personalized writing feedback is usually what moves this score the most.
