Express Entry: IRCC Invites 4,000 CEC Candidates

Express Entry IRCC Invites 4,000 CEC Candidates

Loading

In an exciting development for aspiring immigrants to Canada, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted its third Express Entry draw of the year, inviting 4,000 candidates under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) category.

This draw signifies a step forward in Canada’s commitment to welcoming skilled individuals through its Express Entry system, as outlined in the 2025-2027 Immigration Levels Plan.

Details of the Draw

The CEC draw required candidates to meet a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 527. To receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), candidates needed to have submitted their Express Entry profile before 7:06:43 AM Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) on July 23, 2024.

This draw follows two earlier ones this year:

  1. A Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on January 7, inviting 471 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 793.
  2. Another CEC-specific draw on January 8, where 1,350 ITAs were issued to candidates with a minimum CRS score of 542.

The Role of the 2025-2027 Immigration Levels Plan

Canada’s 2025-2027 Immigration Levels Plan demonstrates IRCC’s “In-Canada Focus” strategy, which prioritizes pathways such as the Canadian Experience Class. Under this plan, the government aims to land 82,890 new immigrants through CEC and related programs in 2025.

These pathways are becoming increasingly pivotal as Express Entry continues to dominate as Canada’s leading system for economic immigration, surpassing other streams like the PNP.

How to Improve Your CRS Score for Express Entry

For those aiming to boost their CRS scores and increase their chances of receiving an ITA, several strategies can make a significant difference:

  1. Enhance Educational Qualifications: Higher education credentials can significantly increase CRS points.
  2. Improve Language Proficiency: Achieving advanced scores in English or French – or both – can add substantial points.
  3. Gain Additional Work Experience: Whether in Canada or abroad, more work experience boosts your profile.
  4. Secure a Provincial Nomination: A provincial nomination alone can add 600 points to your CRS score.
  5. Obtain a Certificate of Qualification: For those in trade occupations, a Canadian-issued certificate combined with strong language skills can elevate scores.

Express Entry: A Critical Pathway for Immigration

Despite predictions that Provincial Nominee Programs might overtake Express Entry in 2024, the federal government has reaffirmed Express Entry’s significance. Allocations for Express Entry landings will rise from 110,770 in 2024 to 124,590 in 2025, while PNP landings are set to decline from 110,000 in 2024 to 55,000 in 2025.

This increase in allocation underscores the Canadian government’s reliance on Express Entry as its primary pathway for skilled immigration. With more ITAs expected in the future, programs managed under Express Entry are set to play a dominant role in achieving Canada’s immigration goals.
