Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has chosen Pearson, the top learning organization in the world, to introduce its newest language test, PTE Essential, to demonstrate English language ability.
PTE Academic and PTE Essential are both new iterations of the Pearson Test of English. The main distinction is that it adheres to the IRCC’s language competency criteria while having a more practical, non-academic focus.
It is projected that as of late 2023, applicants who want to take PTE Essential to demonstrate their English language competency for the purposes of obtaining Canadian citizenship or permanent residency will be allowed to do so. PTE Academic is already accepted by the governments of the UK, Australia, and New Zealand for all visa applications.
“At Pearson, we see every day how English skills can alter lives,” stated Andy Bird, CEO of Pearson. We’ve previously shown how PTE Academic may significantly advance a person’s ability to communicate in their own unique way in English, wherever they want to live, work, or study.
I’m happy that PTE Essential is now recognized for economic visas in Canada and am pleased with the innovation and rigor that go into giving test takers the short and excellent experience that our test offers.
In the upcoming years, the IRCC has declared that it expects to welcome a record number of permanent residents—roughly 1.45 million in all over the next three years.
The acceptance of PTE Essential is necessary due to Canada’s increasing demand for experts in fields including nursing, engineering, and web development.
Furthermore, test takers can book online up to 24 hours in advance, take advantage of year-round worldwide test center slots, and receive their results on average within 1.3 days.
PTE Essential will be rolled out across Pearson’s existing network, with more than 400 PTE centers in 118 countries.
